Commitment to Excellence
Carle Auditory Oral School is a member of OPTIONschools International, an organization of private auditory oral school programs commited to excellence in the education of children with hearing loss.
Carle Auditory Oral School staff members are active in the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, a national organization that advocates for independence through spoken language and listening. The school is approved as a non-public special education facility through the Illinois State Board of Education and as such is recognized as a viable educational option for children with hearing loss.
Carle Auditory Oral School teachers hold current Illinois State Board of Education certification for elementary education with an endorsement in educating children who are deaf and hard of hearing. CAOS teachers have extensive training and experience supporting children with hearing loss in developing spoken language through listening. School therapists hold Illinois licensure and ASHA certification in speech language pathology or audiology. The director of the school is dually certified in deaf education and audiology. Audiological services are provided onsite through the Carle ECHO Program's Pediatric Hearing Center. |
