Center-Based Services
The Birth to Three Program at Carle Auditory Oral School offers on-site therapy sessions. Children with hearing loss benefit from a controlled environment that limits auditory and visual distractions maximizing the signal to noise ratio. An acoustically treated environment such as the one found at our school allows young children with hearing loss to establish an auditory-based language system.
The Birth to Three Program offers parent-infant therapy sessions as well as small play group interactions:
- Parent/Infant sessions focus on the development of communication skills in a caring and supportive environment. Through guided interactions, parents learn strategies for helping their child with hearing loss develop spoken language.
- Weekly play groups promote communication development and social growth through language-rich, theme-based activities. The positive learning environment allows children to make connections with their peers through exploration and play.
